It is acknowledged that there is still much research to be done in the area of Workplace Mindfulness, however early studies have been promising and large corporate companies such as Google, Transport for London and several NHS Trusts have used Mindful Based Interventions successfully.
According to the document Mindful Nation, produced by an All Party Parliamentary Group in 2015, “The most pressing issue is the rising toll of work related mental ill health. Since 2009 the number of sick days lost to stress, depression and anxiety has increased by 24% and the number lost to serious mental illness has doubled. The leading cause of sickness absence in the UK is mental ill-health, accounting for 70 million sick days, more than half of the 130 million total every year.”
